Plenary Sessions

Ben Knight is delighted to dive into the topic of learner autonomy in his two plenary sessions. He brings with him expertise in curriculum development and pedagogical research and is currently Director for Language & Pedagogy Research at Cambridge University Press.

All 3 workshop sessions of the day will cover the same topic but will focus on the relevant CEFR Level of the particular workshop group.  The content is organised as follows:

  • Language Focus: Grammar & Vocabulary (1st workshop)
  • Productive Skills: Writing & Speaking (2nd workshop)
  • Receptive Skills: Reading & Listening (3rd workshop)

B1 Preliminary Workshop

Coco Frei will happily guide you through our B1 Preliminary Workshop. She has been in English language teaching since the 1990s where she has taught different age groups in private schools and companies. Her expertise lies in General English, Business English, and exam preparation. Teaching online is a passion of hers, which she started to follow more than 2 years ago.  She uses different platforms in a synchronous and asynchronous setting.

B2 First/First for Schools Workshop

Thomas Strasser is proud to take over the B2 First/First for Schools Workshop. He is a professor of language methodology and technology-enhanced learning and teaching at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna. Additionally, he is an international reviewer and academic counsellor for various international universities.

B1/B2/C1 Business Exams Workshop

Tim Black will lead you through our B1/B2/C1 Business Exams Workshop. He has been active in teacher training for over 20 years and is currently a state school teacher of English for the FMZ and BBZB in Canton of Luzern. Additionally, he is a Swiss Exams’ Cambridge speaking examiner.

C1 Advanced Workshop

In the C1 Advanced Workshop, Thom Kiddle will show you how to empower learners at this higher level. As Director at Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE) for more than 10 years, he acquired expertise in language teaching, teacher training and language assessment in the years prior to heading the institution.

C2 Proficiency Workshop

John Potts will take a closer look at the C2 Proficiency level, the highest CEFR Cambridge Exams Level. Looking back at over 40 years as an ELT professional and teacher for Cambridge Exams, John has helped many teachers in the past to improve their teaching skills. He has also been a long-time presenter for Swiss Exams and other organizations.
