Secondary School Käferholz - Certificate Ceremony

Secondary School Käferholz - Certificate Ceremony

On Friday evening, 23 August 2019 the Swiss Exams Team was invited by Joe Hediger, an English teacher at the Secondary School Käferholz in Zurich, to an award ceremony where Lori Kaithan, the CEM & CEO of Swiss Exams, would hand the certificates to the students personally.

Secondary School Käferholz - Certificate Ceremony

The programme was a combination of music (by the teacher and the students), speeches prepared by the students in excellent English and, of course, the award ceremony itself during which the students received their B1 PET certificates and a graduation cap. As the study of a foreign language is always connected to tradition and culture, Lori explained how to move the tassle on the graduation cap and then proceeded to giving the certificates to each student individually.

There were 58 students and many of them passed with merit or distinction. They were dressed in lovely formal attire, the girls in long dresses, the boys in suits and ties. After the ceremony, delicious food was served which had been made by the parents who were also there and very proud of their teenagers.

The Council of Affoltern was also represented and many other distinguished guests. All in all, it was a wonderful evening and very inspiring to see so many motivated and successful young people led by a truly committed teacher. Joe will be preparing these same students for the B2 First for Schools exam to be taken in 2020.

Thank you for letting Swiss Exams share in such a great event.
