Cambridge Linguaskill awarded ALTE Q-mark.
Cambridge Linguaskill has been awarded the ALTE Q-mark, a recognised European standard for quality in language assessment.
The Q-mark is granted by the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) following an independent audit against 18 quality standards covering test design, administration, scoring and stakeholder communication. The award confirms that Linguaskill meets established international standards for reliability, validity and professionalism.
What this means
Following the audit, Linguaskill was recognised for:
- Accurate measurement of English proficiency in real-world contexts
- Consistent and reliable results across modules
- Robust quality assurance in test development, delivery and scoring
- The use of technology to support secure and fair assessment
Vincent Folny, Chair of ALTE’s Quality Management Committee, noted that the Q-mark signals confidence in the test’s design, administration, scoring and communication with stakeholders.
Francesca Woodward, Global Managing Director for English at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, stated that the award reflects Cambridge’s commitment to maintaining high standards in English language assessment and the responsible use of technology.
Why this matters for schools and institutions
The ALTE Q-mark provides independent confirmation of Linguaskill’s quality framework and alignment with recognised European standards.
For schools, this offers additional assurance when using Linguaskill to benchmark and report students’ English proficiency in alignment with the CEFR.
Linguaskill can be used by institutions and employers to support benchmarking of English proficiency against the CEFR. Use for specific purposes such as admission, graduation or recruitment depends on individual institutional requirements.
Candidates receive a detailed Test Report showing overall and module-level results.
With this recognition, Linguaskill joins other Cambridge English qualifications that have undergone the ALTE Q-mark audit process.
What this means for organisations and candidates in Switzerland
In Switzerland, Swiss Exams offers Cambridge Linguaskill to schools, universities, organisations and individual candidates looking for a flexible way to assess English proficiency aligned with the CEFR.
The test is delivered digitally through Swiss Exams’ network of authorised test centres, allowing institutions and candidates to obtain reliable English benchmarking through a secure and efficient testing process.
With the ALTE Q-mark now confirming the test’s quality framework, organisations and candidates using Linguaskill through Swiss Exams can rely on an internationally recognised assessment system supported by local expertise and delivery infrastructure.
