Cambridge Linguaskill: Two ways to support your candidates’ best results: ERO vs. My Best Score

Cambridge Linguaskill: Two ways to support your candidates’ best results: ERO vs. My Best Score

At Swiss Exams, we understand that candidates want to showcase their best performance. With Cambridge Linguaskill, we now offer two distinct ways to help them do just that.

In this article, we break down the options and explain the differences—so you know which one to recommend and when.

Exam Retake Option (ERO)

Candidates can take advantage of the ERO in these cases:

  • If they are affected by illness or accidents.
  • If there’s a transportation failure (e.g., car or public transport) on exam day.
  • In the unfortunate case of a death in the family.
  • If a student misses their target score by 3 points or less.

Students can retake individual modules if they booked the full exam. Keep in mind that the 3-point rule applies to the overall score, not individual modules. If a student booked only certain modules, they can only retake the same ones with the ERO.

The ERO is simple and hassle-free

  • Must be selected during original registration
  • It’s valid for up to 12 months from the original exam date.

My Best Score – New & included automatically

A free feature that allows improvement in specific skills. While they must pay to register for a new module, replacing their previous results with the better ones on their Linguaskill certificate is free of charge.

Candidates can then choose whether they want to share:

  • Candidates may choose to retake only the module(s) they want to improve
  • Valid for 6 months after the original test
  • Final Test Report shows the best score per module

This option is ideal for candidates who want to focus on specific areas without the stress or cost of retaking the entire test.
