Linguaskill Certificate Update: Clearer, More Transparent Reporting from February 2026
Cambridge is introducing enhancements to the design and content of Linguaskill and Linguaskill Business certificates. The updated certificates were introduced on 9 February 2026.
What is changing?
The revisions focus on clarity and transparency, particularly for organisations that use Linguaskill results as formal proof of English proficiency.
Key enhancements include:
- Clearer explanation of the average score — The certificate now explains more clearly how the overall Linguaskill score is calculated across modules.
- Clearer indication of modules not taken or scoring below B1 — The certificate now makes it immediately visible whether a module was not completed or whether the result falls below B1 level.
- Enhanced supporting information — Additional contextual information has been added to help institutions interpret results more easily.
Why this matters for schools and institutions
For schools, vocational institutions and employers, certificate clarity is essential. Clearer documentation:
- Supports confident decision-making
- Reduces administrative follow-up questions
- Strengthens trust in externally benchmarked assessment
The updated design reinforces Linguaskill's role as a reliable, CEFR-aligned assessment tool used for admission, progression and employment decisions.
Schools and institutions using Linguaskill through Swiss Exams will automatically receive certificates in the updated format.
Validity of existing certificates
All certificates issued before the new design was introduced remain fully valid and continue to be verifiable via the Results Verification Service.
